Hello,

I am not sure if we decided on a movie. I am pretty sure we talked about seeing more of Girls.

I am still interested in Tomboy and The Kid With The Bike. . .

Cheers,

Suzanne,

Would you be interested in having a reading group (Ulysses or other) this fall or winter at OSL (oak street lofts) gallery?

I am winding up my 10 day vacation - have been running a B&B and working in the wood shop in Jefferson, ME.

Very nice to get away, in the country, with chickens and sheep and wild things.

Yes to a reading group. We can talk more about it later.

I am doing a family thing tonight and are hoping to go to Irish Heritage Center for a Ulysses Pub crawl this afternoon. Their will be readings from the text at each establishment.

Miss you!

Hello,

I was talking with Barbara and she is interested in showing in Portland. She does tile work, however what she would like to show is her pastels. See below.

Richard, her husband does fantastic furniture pieces, that involve a lot of lathe work and less straight lines.

Their website is www.gothictile.com and they live in Jefferson, Maine.

I expressed the possibility for showing in a group show in August, or possibly in July... or other.

What do you all think? They would be anxious for this opportunity, so let me know so I can pass on some information.

Thanks!

Angela

what do you think of residentgallery?  .com and .net are taken but not .org.

are we an org or would we like to promote our goods to purchase, at least by a link to a shopping cart website or to use paypal or contact the artist...

Hey-oh!

Hotter than hell down here, I had to get another fan.

we are not unique?  there is another oak street lofts out there?  how odd.

residentgallery.org is very clinical to me, very vanilla, I do love vanilla ice cream though.  Not sure how I feel about that.

.org does not bother me at all.  in any case, i think having some sort of place recognition is important, even 72oak might be good.

branding!

as far as having any sort of online commerce I would caution against it and suggest that we hook potential buyers up with the artists themselves though email addresses or phone numbers.

thanks for keeping me in the loop, and keep cool!

thinking outside the box, what do you think of trapezo? it is a word that i made up.

i think what  i might like to do is have the option to give residents a page on the community site, and from there they can link to a personal/commerce website or just have contact info on their page.

Hello,

The art work isn't mine, it is another artist's. My table was finished and I was asked if I wanted to include it in the show, so I did. I need to work on a collection, or enough for a show, probably next year.

I have found someone I work with, an hour from Portland. He has a wood shop and would like to have students. He and his wife have a B & B. I will work at the  B & B while they are away for 10 days in June. I get to collect eggs from the chickens and watch the yearling lambs eat grass. I can use the canoe on the lake, and work in the wood shop.

My next project is a walnut and maple end grain chopping block. I anticipate book matching the grains, however this is the first time I will try to do this. Anyway, it has been a productive tutelage. He is trained in traditional craftsmanship, but likes a challenge vs mass production. My designs are a good match for his skills and inclinations.

We dialogue ways to make a joint, discuss the pro's and cons per strength and effort, and might make one cut in the wood for the whole day. It is very productive, because I am learning a skill set, and getting comfortable with the machines and hand tools. By no means an expert or even close, but I do understand the reason why my creation is the way it is. Some of this experience should transfer to me being able to engineer my own products at some point...

My work schedule is Th and F off.

You have my phone # right, 207-///////

I work a lot of 4-12 midnight shifts, but sometimes an afternoon start. I get my schedule each week.

Is your garden off to a good start?

Glad you enjoy the table. I hope things are sunny for you two.

Hello,

Thanks. Finally a project finished. It received a lot of good feedback.

I'll take a wee rest, then get right on another project. I endeavor to have a collection to show in a whole gallery space, probably next year.

I've been doing a little running, a little gym, a little rollerblading, a little biking. Have you heard anything about anti-gravity boots?  My hips get really tight at work and I am looking for a way to incorporate another motion to make me right.

Hope you are enjoying your place, and Handy. Got coordinates on another trip?

take care,

Glad you are active.  You do look healthy.  I also like the variety of

activities you do.  Just do something physical every day and eat

healthy and chances are you'll stay healthy a long time.  Good job.

Taking Handy hiking tomorrow to Lake Tahoe.  Probably climb Freel

Peak.  Back to Thailand in July for a couple weeks and that's about

it.  Otherwise, it's the typical stuff like work that keeps me busy.

Again, love the table.  Mike

My next project is an end grain chopping block made of walnut and maple. It will provide me the opportunity to book match grains, and I am doing it for my apartment. It will have a little complexity as the cuts of wood won't be cubes, but beveled shapes.

i have some grand art ideas that I need to research more, and get my skills up to speed, and income to buy materials. The chopping block suffices to keep my mind in the medium and I feel confident that I can engineer alone... as I get to do this while I work at the B & B in the country. And collect chicken eggs, watch yearling lambs eat grass, kayak on the lake, make breakfasts for a few guests, and work in the wood shop ... kind of like a paid vacation.  The person I work with in the wood shop is going on vacation with his wife, and they also run a B&B at their country house.

I also feel confident I won't hurt myself while I am alone in the wood shop. Not so much a worry as a healthy concern to be aware and on top of your game. (This is the same stance I take with roller blading in the city. If my energy is not good- great, I don't go). Wood has knots, it can shatter and go flying. And, you need to be aware of your finger position and such.

Recently I got a vitamix blender, $500, but I got mine for 300 with a coupon and return. It is the luxury car of blenders. Because it turns at 240 mph, I can put raw ingredients in, and it will heat the contents to make soup, or make smoothies, and recently I did a macadamia, almond, cashew, pistachio nut butter. I make a new and improved  "pb" and j with blueberry preserves = really yummy.

No need to take things apart to clean, just whirl with water and a little bit of soap and rinse. Amazing how this makes so easy to use, and you will use the blender prolifically.

I've been able to hide all sorts of nutritious things in my smoothies: aloe vera juice, raw ginger, green tea extract. Soups are yummy and delicious in texture, and very satisfying. It comes with a very thick recipe book.

Staying active is the key. A few times a year, due to holidays, cold temperatures, and lots of free time, i may sleep a day or two and do nothing, and i roll out of that feeling 10-20 years older, and it takes me a week or longer to get back to my original rhythm.  ... Honestly, some days I feel I have to go to the gym just to wake my body up, then I am ready for action...  I've also noticed, that I don't stretch unless I go to the gym, because I do that inbetween sets.

With my next review, I should get a pay increase, and want to look into yoga. There are several places that teach it a block or 2 from where I live. Additionally, the time has come. The work I do in retail, being on my feet on a hard surface and lifting heavy boxes has made me less flexible, and I need to start fine tuning with some concerted stretching.

I went to a free class, and yoga stretches the body in a different way than I do at the gym. For hamstrings, they have you engage the muscles, -then- go into a stretch holding that tautness.  It just taught me that this would be good medicine, plus practicing PT (physical therapy) and massage, particularly of calves for me, would be a good thing for me body.

My apartment, work and gym and access to trails is within a mile radius. It is economic living at its finest. It is a modest way to provide for a healthy, low maintenance lifestyle. I can point my bike down hill and be at work and clocked in, in 4 minutes (my record best, accentuated with actually pedaling down hill). If you ever want to come to Maine, I can put you up in my apartment. Bring someone as well, and you can share the space. I have a queen bed and couch. I have plenty of friends that I can stay...

Thailand sounds delightful. I am glad you will be able to swing that. Are you officially divorced?

xoxo,

Angela

Hi Angie,

Handy and I hiked our own way from Highway 89 near Hope Valley (7500')

to Freel Peak (10,881') yesterday.  Freel Peak is the highest peak in

the Tahoe Basin.  It was a 17.1 mile hike for me and 20 for Handy.

With drive time, it was a 13-14 hour day.  Would have been 9.52 miles

shorter but I couldn't get my car past ONE obstacle!  If you know me,

I can usually get my car in some pretty hairy places.  I feel so bad

for Handy though. She has many, many blisters and some on top of

blisters from backpacking last weekend that haven't completely healed.

She never complained and you would never know she was hurting. Better

let her rest next weekend.

Your chopping block project sounds sweet.  It does sound more

complicated to make with the beveled shape.  Be safe in the wood shop.

Sounds like you're making some great connections in the B&B world.

B&B's are usually restful and It seems that way for you even though

you're working one.

I want a Vitamix blender.  I am thoroughly intrigued by the

information you shared.  I feel like I could use one and be even

healthier!  I just checked Amazon and there are many models.  Is this

the one you have?  Are you extremely happy with it?

http://www.amazon.com/Vitamix-1782-TurboBlend-2-Speed/dp/B004VMAC8I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338777083&sr=8-1

P90X is good.  I've done it.  I've sort of blown through P90X2 and I

do Insanity.  I do all these off and on never following one routine

exactly.  I like a hybrid approach and mix and match.  I try to just

do something every day even if its hiking or bike riding.  I eat very

healthy for breakfast and lunch.  I do OK for dinner, but my BAD habit

is I can't stop eating at night!!!  If I did, I'm sure I could loose

that little tiny belly (and I mean little).  Good for you to keep

active and eat healthy.  You're looking good in your pic on the table.

I don't do yoga (except maybe a couple times a year).  It's just too

slow for me.  But my buddy does it daily and swears by it.  I've also

been told if I just do it, that it will help my occasional back

problem.

My divorce is close.  We have an agreement and the attorneys should be

drafting a judgement settlement for review.  Hopefully, less than one

month to go.  I'm cleaned out financially ... have

nada.  Oh well.

Would love to get to Maine and I appreciate the offer to stay with

you.  That would be great.  I'll see what I can do next year.

Thailand in July/Aug followed by climbing something with Terry in Sept

and Oct and Torrey for Thanksgiving, and then starting all over again

with Maggie (Thailand) in January.....

Stay out of trouble.  Sounds like things are good for you:)

Hello,

Yes, you can tell her to fill out an application to run the July show!

In terms of reimbursement for the snacks you bought, unfortunately I cannot provide snacks for every meeting. I have a very limited budget and need to make sure it lasts for the entire year. Our event in June is going to cost a decent amount of money and I will need to have a few more that are similar later this year and next. It would be nice to discuss this at our next meeting...to see if residents are interested in having snacks and coming up with a plan as to how this can happen. Please do not feel obligated to provide snacks (since I cannot reimburse you) because I know that all of that stuff really starts to add up.

Thanks,

I didn't know if this would be acceptable to you. I told Me-shell to contact you.

I would like to emphasize, this is not intended to be a parking space "share" by me, in that it is on-going, but if I know I am going to be out of town with my car, I am happy to assign that space for the duration, or have you assign it.

Will the planer plane end grain? I ask because I can glue 1 foot segments of the chop block together, run it thru the planer to remove glue.

Or is this a bad idea?

I don 't think planing it would be good.  Your best bet it to just do a careful glue up and not get glue on the end surface in the first place.  You can do some things to keep glue off areas you don't want it on, put blue tape on the edge of the glued surface to keep squeeze out off, put finish or wax on the surface you want to protect, and clean up squeeze out by sprinkling saw dust on the squeeze out to dry it out and keep it from sticking to the clean surface, an scrape off any that does.

Good luck.

hello, good morning!

i am into the second day of my chop block. 3 out 4 boards are twisted, and today i plan to get them straight ...

went rollerblading out here. the roads are sufficiently nice on 126. there was a bump in the road, and i went to investigate. it was a turtle that had been run over by a car. it was about 12" long with it's shell alone. the shell had been cracked on the side, and the side of its face badly chewed up. it was seeping a small little pool of bright, viscous, cherry red blood near its head. i thought best to get it off the road. i picked it up by its shell, being particular to handle the part that wasn't cracked, and as i lifted the turtle it moved!

i exhaled like a lung being let out of air, and exclaimed with chagrin- it's still alive :(

i flipped it over to inspect the damage and the turtle wriggled its back legs quite agilely. i felt really bad.

the cars do zoom here, over hill and dale, and i was nearly hit (mostly threatened) by a petulant driver, and probably the same one that was driving too fast to see a turtle in full sun at the top of the hill, to negotiate missing it. it wasn't dead!

this was quite different to inspect "road kill" that is alive, and sentient enough to know, even with a mangled head, that it doesn't like to be flipped upside down.

i put the turtle on the side of the road, gave it a moment while standing on my rollerblades, sun at our backs. we all want to be outside wriggling around on such a nice day... i skated back to the B&B, i thought about its fleshy exposed parts being eaten and used to harvest eggs by bugs. i wondered about its nervous system and how much it would feel pain. i pondered about it into the night and the next day: would it still be a live : would it be a slow death: did i do the right thing: is there someone that could help that i should call: would anyone care: what about animal rights?  this made me feel bad, this narcissistic relationship with nature as status quo.

---

will you be at the meeting thursday at 9 am in the gallery?

---

at tj, there is a cork board in the break room full of venue and art offerings. some are out-dated, including a large 18x24 poster of a employees art on etsy, however she no longer works at tj.

for the last week, i have posted my boomerang promo and someone has removed it. they haven't removed anything out-dated. i posted another one, and it was removed. not to be deterred, i thought this would be the case, so i had one on hand to immediately replace the other. and it was removed.

it is noted that it is is osl gallery thru june on the promo.

i put up 3 inside of a week. there are people at work that i have talked about this project with, and i wanted them to see the final outcome. it is quite possible due to work schedule that i don't see them except every 4 days.

the point is, after 3 tries, i decided i didn't want to play this game, and took down everything on the cork board and threw it away. now i am on vacation. there were employees i work with that know the removal of my promo was happening, and knew i took down everything on the cork board, and supported me in doing so.

the question still remains, or the mystery. i can't figure out who or why? but i think on some level they feel inferior and this is there small way of expressing their self (?) by denying me. i don't get it, but feel they deserve to be petty, unimaginative, aided by their calcified ignorance. what else could they be?

i think i am going to laminate a copy and safety clip it to my back pack :)

back pack goes in the break room. wouldn't that be funny!

Hi Angela,

My heart goes out to you. I'm not sure how I would handle finding a presumed dead but very injured turtle either. You did what felt right and that is the best we could do. I guess for future times the Maine Audubon might have some info or recommendations. The poor turtle, man and it's quest for quality of life, stomps ahead injuring and killing the innocent. Not always intentional but there is always a price.

Too bad about TJ's. Some small minded person who doesn't have it in their heart to love and support another human being in their quest for artistic growth. Well, I think the world of you.

We wanted to know if you've had time to pick some strawberries.  Eat all you want.  If they start coming in faster than you can eat, you can put them in a freezer bag and put them in any freezer there is room, including the one downstairs.

I told neighbor Ned and Brenda to come pick.  If Richard comes over, he should pick too.

Hope you're having a good time. Still very nice weather here.

Hello,

I have been picking, and eating! Great idea to freeze if there is too much.

Today, I helped Sandy set up the electric fence, had enough of the rogue chicken going rogue and chased and cornered, back and forth, until i won, and put her back in the pen. I have also been "practicing" out of necessity, finer cuts, my glue-up, and ingenious use of clamps. i took a pick on your camera, so you can see all the clamps i put into service.

a little rainy today.

You caught Rogue Chicken? Wow! You are really fast.  Remember, if she gets out, you can wait til she roosts at sundown, and she's easy to grab then.

Sounds like you're having a good time.

rogue got out for 2 nights in a row, and was roosting in a flower box, and squawking in the morning.

she wouldn't go in her pen, that's when i decided to manually put her in.

good thing i have been training, because she didn't know i was going to wear her down!

Rick, I think I fixed the band saw(... because I broke it),  however please check the tension when you get back. It seems to be cutting fine, and not making a racket.

Great!

Don't worry about the bandsaw blade.  It was pretty dull anyway.  I usually test the tension by pushing the blade sideways about an inch or so above the table.  It should only move about an 1/8th inch or so. If its cutting good, then it's ok.

Hope you're getting the time in the shop you want.  Seems like we've been keeping you running with chicken duty and reservations and strawberries.

What did the boat people end up doing?  I don't think the lake level is high enough for them to launch at either landing.  They might do better going to Damariscotta Lake.

Hello,

I made a receipt out of the reservation copies on the clip board, and noticed you charge 7% tax. They have already paid. The check and paperwork is in the monthly planner, at "July".

I think they were going to check the access in back to launch, but did speak of boating in Damariscotta.

The 5 chickens get to go out of their pen at midday, and so far they go back in at dusk. Rogue is being rogue, but in the pen, which suits me fine. I didn't want it disturbing guests by hanging out in their flower box outside the window.

Linda,

I spoke with Barbara and conveyed to her that our resident gallery at Oak Street Lofts is open for a resident to curate other artists as well. It is in the art district, right off of congress street, and in the thick of first friday art walk.

I sent a memo to a person that is assembling a group show to see if Barbara and Richard could show July or August or thereafter.

Along these lines, I thought I would let you know,  too, and send along this info while I am thinking about it.

Can you and Richard do July 6th first friday in Portland?

If you let me know shortly, I can get a little write-up in the Art Walk newspaper. The 15th is their deadline to print.

Let me how it should read?

When I use the jointer, it doesn't seem to be collecting chips, even though the hose is hooked up and turned on.

Also, do I have to joint the curve out of a board, or just flat? My board is twisted :(

Check to be sure the blast gate for jointer is open at the DC.  Take the fitting off the dust port of the jointer to see if there is a clog there.

What are you going to do with the twisted board?

:(

i am a little agitated, as i let the chickens out, because sandy said it would be good for them to get some greens and grubs and sunshine.

it worked well yesterday, they went back to roost in the pen and i closed the door.

today, i heard the chickens scuffle with big squawking outside the office, and got up from the computer, crows were flying madly overhead, and i turned my head, and caught sight of the back of a little fox's tail bounding away.

i ran after him and could see nothing as he disappeared around a corner and down a hill in the back. i returned to the office and counted the chickens. 2 specks went right back to the pen, and 2 gingers were in the entrance of the house. i have searched high and low for the last ginger. i can't find her or any feathers, and it seemed by the way the fox was lightly bounding off, that it didn't have it in its mouth.

it has been about 45 minutes, and i still go outside to check.

i apologize in advance if she goes missing, and will gladly get you another one.

... i couldn't figure out how i could see the tail of the fox and at the first knoll it was gone from all view. i walked  to the back and thought if i were a fox that wanted to disappear out of sight, i would hug the trees lining the back of your yard, in the shade. so i walked that way. i walked up the dirt road to 126, and i found the feathers. not a lot, but the fox doesn't need to pluck all of them. some looked like they had saliva on them, and the stems were broken.

no chicken remains, which means the fox probably took the chicken to its den.

later today, i saw the fox in the road, across from you neighbor, towards gardiner. it looked like it was slyly on the hunt, then darted back across the street.

there are a lot of chick sounds between the dirt road and your neighbors house. i was hanging out and listening.

i imagine the fox will be lurking or looking to score another meal... there are plenty of squirrels!

thanks for being gracious! i am glad you will be getting chicks in July.

Open Letter to the City of Portland:

Late last night I was returning home, and Oak Street was blocked off with cones.  I turned onto Oak Street from Congress St., through the cones, not for a lack of awareness on my part, but that I do understand that this section of Oak Street is a One-Way street, and can only be accessed lawfully by Congress Street.

As I was turning, Ernie Cotello rapped on my car window shield. I was not using excessive speed, while he was using excessive force.

He informed me that he works for the City of Portland and informed me with a belligerent attitude, that I was breaking the law. I asked him which law he would like me to break;  going the wrong way on a one-way street or crossing the cones?

I bring this to your attention due to the misshapen stance of his public service, both in the set-up of the work place, and then using the work to be punitive to the public which he serves.

After I parked my car at 72 Oak Street, I walked down the street to talk with Mr. Cotello. In less than a minute, the cones were all picked up and he was on his way. I rapped on his vehicle, and he offered to call the police. I find it ironic that the paint was suddenly dry, in the time that it took for him to verbally accost me, and that he says he has the time to call the police in the same conversation that he says he has another area in town to paint.

Due to the dichotomy of his physical expression and conversation, I believe his service is adverse to the public, et al.

I for one am not happy about his service, and am willing to take this to a greater form of expression, as necessary, to debilitate any Napoleon upshot (in his advent of "manhood" or anti-climatic aftermath per missed opportunity, as this most certainly is not my problem, and am unwilling to wear it as such). This level of immaturity and lack of awareness combined with a will to be abrasive does not have a place in even the most perfunctory of public service in this community, as I am sure, you and I know, there are many that would be HAPPY to paint a white line, given opportunity to do so for a living.

In case you do not understand why I am writing and making an official complaint: If the City of Portland is going to make it unlawful for tired people to access their home, they should do it knowingly ie with awareness, and be on the ball to provide direction, and not come out of nowhere in an abominable baboon style when the public is left to figure out this inherently bad design for their self.

Oh Angela!

I cannot believe you (of all people) were treated this way.  Of all people, because you are so beyond friendly and charming and nice.  This makes me sad.  I had a run in with a city bus driver where he threatened to call the police twice.  I wrote a letter to Metro and spoke with them on the phone actually and I never felt it was resolved to my satisfaction.

Some people should not be allowed to work with the public.

Thank you for sharing this, I am so sorry you had to deal with that.  Well written too, very well done.

Hello Megan and Cheryl,

I wanted to do the nice thing and offer my space to Me-shell, when I am not in town. I had 2 occasions to state, in writing/ via email, that this was not an on going thing, and I would happy to let her know when the space is available and for what duration.

I am retracting this. This morning when I left, I noticed her car in the spot next to mine. When I returned later today, she was in my spot. I called her to move her car, and let her know we are not ever doing this / sharing / again.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I thought I would try to be accommodating to others without a dedicated parking spot, ie Me-shell. However, it will not work for me if it penalizes my free time, and makes me a chump by exercising my clear communication to no avail.

My preference would be to pay for hosting for the year, as I dislike the sniggley little and incessant payments. Nothing personal.

hey,

i just thought i would make mention of this, because i am slightly disturbed.

me-shell is on my floor, and i offered her my space to park when i am not here. i took pains to explain, 2 times in an email, that this is Not ongoing, etc etc. and that i would let her know when i am out of town, and for what duration.

today, i saw her car in the person's parking spot that is next to mine. when i returned later today, she was in my parking spot.

i called with urgency, because i hate wasting my free time, and i had to PEE! i got her on the phone and said this/ sharing wasn't going to happen any longer.

i peed.

it was a relief.

she sent me texts.

i feel she didn't read the content of the emails re my parking spot, or took from it what she wanted. she seemed to respond with full acknowledge to the rest of the content of the emails re the gallery, etc.

i simply laid down the law: no more parking exchange period. and i am over any need for drama, i'm just not going back. (i'm not signing up to waste my time).

i'm leaving to get groceries, and the egg carton that i gave her (twice) of farm fresh eggs, was in the hallway, in front of my door.

that is a little immature and disturbing.

these are the secret thoughts of my head.

i hope it is ok to share!

now i am going to do my grocery shopping.

i kind of don't like dealing with this person :(

kind of a young, immature, bad egg. i get that she gets my definitive message / FINALLY! and is using it against me.

whatever!

thanks,

Oh sweetheart,

I have to say that it makes me sad that there was this misunderstanding between the two of you and I hope it gets ironed out to your satisfaction at some point.

However, that being said, I don't have high hopes for any love blooming betwixt myself and Miss Me-shell.

For reasons of my own I chose to only interract with her on a congenial passing basis.  Her youthful ignorance and inexperience are a barrier to any further friendship I might have with her.  That is all.  Perhaps you and I can have a glass of wine or cup of tea and a cookie at some point (my famous oatmeal nutty cookies) and chat about the whole deal.

If you are in fact a double agent working on behalf of some sort of Oak Street Lofts cabal or something, then kudos to you - you had me fooled!  I joke, I don't mean that.  I hope it works out ok, and if not you can certainly tell me about it in confidence.

Are you doing the August show?  If not, who is?

Have a good night m'dear,

hello,

i'm not inclined to want to do anything with unsafely wired mechanisms, be they electrical or personal. that is just revealing some hefty lack of cards missing from the deck.

frankly, i'm indifferent to having things ironed out. i think she was testing the fabric, with me and the parking area. it wouldn't be the first time that someone thought that because i am nice that i am naive to their charms, stupid, or a pushover.

i'm not even disappointed. i'm just blankly and thoroughly indifferent.

there is a lot of blaming others in her actions which = issues + irresponsibility.  if anything, i am disappointed for her character, -but- I honestly do no care what she does or doesn't do with it. there are no more egg cartons to strew into the hallway, and she can't have my parking spot. i imagine that about absolves anything she can assail me.

--

i'm curating the july show. i fell into it because me-shell wasn't ready... she is doing the august.

i am meeting with the web host guy on wednesday. he has purchased the domain name for me. i've been toying with the dot in the dot-com, to be an acorn.

part of the reason i am endeavoring to get a web presence is to promote these people which are really excited to show in portland. i would love for them to make connections and people to support their efforts.

i have been keeping megan and cheryl in the loop by sending the artwork for the domain and discussing my impetus and a plan to be able to fund it.

essentially, though, it will be my baby of responsibility in terms of cultivating the website, however, i think we as artists here can leverage what we can do collectively and  synergistically by aligning with the housing association. i think we need to think in terms of what the housing association and its connections can do for us!

Barbara Vanderbilt, pastel landscape artist, and Richard Curewitz, fine furniture with a twist, will be exhibiting this First Friday and the month of July at 72 Oak Street Gallery. Please contact 318-5241 for additional viewing and information.

If this works for you Megan. I know the deadline for the news is today.  It might be exceptionally nice to put in a blurb about the pottery from Peter at Watershed, as these 3 things would go nicely together.

I don't know Peter's last name, and don't know if Me-shell is ready to go for July...

They think they can fill the space, if the ceramicist doesn't show. I have not heard from Me-shell, although I have emailed, and left a message on her phone yesterday.

They will be able to size things up for display on Tuesday.

Can I get paperwork for them to sign. I am happy to curate this, of course. Did a blurb get in the artwalk newspaper? Perhaps you will be available to meet them

Hi,

Me-shell and I chatted. They are coming tm and will know if they can fill the space or if we need a 3rd. The potter seemed the most ideal to integrate w/ furniture and pictures. Me-shell said she couldn't get the signature - I suggested they could fax it ...  more on this later. She has went to Space...

Tm they are coming at 10 or 1030. Could you have the paperwork at or before that time?

I will let them know to email photos of their work to be in the show for your review.

Anything else?

They are really excited to show in Portland. They do show in NY and Kennebunk ... and they have been doing tile designs for Ann Sacks for over 20 years.

If the artwalk blurb doesn't need to be in by the 22nd, I will ask them how they would like it to read, and get that info to you.

Do they want a funky title for the first Friday blurb? Right now I will have it as Gothic Tile (since that is their website name).

Thanks,

Megan

We will be flying home tomorrow and probably will miss you.  I remember you said you go to work by 4:00.  We hope you take today to rest, relax, and enjoy.  Are all the guests checking out today?  Any house work or laundry can be accomplished when we get back.  We appreciate you so much!!

Hello,

I am sanding and putting the first coat on my chop block. I did have a little free time yesterday and the day was nice. It is all good ...

Sharon checked out today, and Doug Sinclair is here, however without his partner. He is booked here thru Monday night, so you will meet him.

His elderly mother lives close by and he has been cooking (chef quality) and vac-packing over 50 meals. I don't see him much during the day. He has brought me samplings daily which has been wonderful!

I hope you are enjoying your stay... Can't wait 'til you see what I have been up to...

Glad to see you made such progress on your chopblock.  Can't wait to see it.  I'm really ready to get back into the shop.  I'm hoping we can get to the art walk with Barb & Richard.

See you soon.

Hello,

just putting a final coat on my chop block.

we can talk about the struggles and things wrong with it next time we meet. it does look nice though. i am just aware of its fault lines. and, i have learned to work from small to large on this project, and not large to small. this week has been quite an intensive and arced learning curve!

hope you are enjoying the journey home ...

chickens are back to laying eggs. they didn't do that for a day and half after one went missing.

ps, i let the chickens inform me of their desire to go outside that day. i came in with corn food, and left the gate open. not one came to the trough and they all stormed the gate, so i figured they wanted to go outside the pen.

doug may be going to the coast today, after he vac-packs food at his mothers.

have a great day! and i will see you two soon,

angela

The chop block looks great.  Amazing grain matching.  Shady and Linda were much impressed also.  You win't need me much longer.  See you soon.

Hello Hello!

I struggled with that and hope it stays together.

Can't wait to start a new project... called Trapezo!

What is your schedule like, or do you need a vacation from your vacation?

Ben and Tanya,

Can I get some input on domain names for OSL, and the capacity in which is serves?

Last resident meeting, Cheryl said that they closed the facebook account because they didn't want people posting negatively. So while it is defunct, it is listed as a "homeless shelter."

I am curating this July show. A pastel artist and a fine furniture maker. I would like to try to get a website up for an online promotional presence.

So, I see the purpose of the website as:

Informational for residents, and a place to park the newsletter

Gallery promotion and highlights, and a way to inform the public

Resident artists page, which can link to a personal website or have a way to contact

Calendar of events, both for residents, and public engagement

Possibly, additional views, such as a blog, photography, like an online magazine sort of thing

Here are some possibilities:

www.oslgallery.org 72oslgallery 72osgallery osgallery 72os 72osg 72os galleryosl oakstreetlofts 72oakst 72oakstreet

Any feedback and ideas would be great!

Thanks,

Angela
